Students from Roanoke City Public Schools are attending the National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional City Conference this week in Washington, DC with Roanoke City Council Member Anita James Price.Registration is open for the third annual Roanoke Youth Summit. The event was held at Wasena Park, and youth participated in a park and greenway cleanup.The event is open to middle and high school students in Roanoke. During the event the board also sponsored a youth summer career/internship/volunteer fair. Bowers presented the Local Government Education Week Proclamation to Roanoke City Council Member Anita James Price, Roanoke Youth Services Citizen Board Vice-Chairperson Karen Pillis, and Roanoke Youth Services Citizen Board Member Lorena Wilson.Roanoke was well represented at the conference by the four students who attended."February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention month.From 2004 through 2009, Congress designated the first full week in February as National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week.
